Using books to teach language and early literacy

May 31, 2016

Our Speech Pathologists are passionate about language stimulation and building good foundations for literacy learning. One fantastic way to encourage these skills in children is through reading books. However, parents are often unsure what to do with books other than just read them aloud.

We have put together a great workshop that aims at teaching parents how to use books with their little people at home. Kids will learn reading conventions such as title, left to right tracking, turning pages, etc. Phonological Awareness skills necessary for good literacy foundations such as rhyming and syllable counting will be developed. Activities will help the kids understand the sequence of the story. But above all else, we feel passionate about children learning a love of reading and books!

We would love parents and children between the ages of 2-5 years to come and join in our fun and rewarding workshop at Leap Therapy Group clinic. If you are interested in registering, make sure you contact the clinic as soon as possible.
