School Holiday Groups
At Leap Therapy Group, we offer a range of school holiday Speech Pathology groups designed to help children build communication skills, confidence and social connections while taking part in fun and engaging activities.
Each school holiday, our Speech Pathologists create new themed groups based on children’s interests. From games and cooking to science experiments, creative activities and more, every group is carefully planned to provide children with opportunities to practise important skills in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Our holiday groups support children to develop skills including:

With new themes and activities each school holiday, there is always something exciting for your child to enjoy while building valuable communication skills along the way.
Literacy Groups
At Leap Therapy Group, our literacy groups are designed to support children who are finding reading, spelling and writing challenging or who need extra support to build their literacy skills.
Our literacy programs are delivered by Speech Pathologists using evidence-based, systematic synthetic phonics approaches and language-based strategies that support children to develop the foundations needed for successful reading and writing.
Our groups are tailored to different stages of literacy development:
Early Literacy (Kindergarten - Year 2)
Children develop foundational reading and spelling skills through activities targeting:

Phonological awareness skills, including blending and segmenting sounds

Sound–letter connections and decoding skills
-
Consonant digraphs (e.g., sh, ch, th) and early spelling patterns

Building confidence with reading and writing
Upper Primary Literacy (Year 3 - Year 5)
Children continue to strengthen their literacy skills through activities targeting:

Consolidation of blending and segmenting skills

More complex spelling patterns, including vowel digraphs

Morphology skills, including understanding prefixes, suffixes and word parts

Developing reading accuracy, spelling and written language skills
Our goal is to help children become more confident readers and writers by providing targeted, engaging literacy support in a small group environment.
School Readiness Groups
At Leap Therapy Group, our School Readiness Groups are designed to help children build the skills and confidence they need for a successful transition into their first year of school.
Developed and delivered by our experienced Speech Pathologists, these groups provide children with the opportunity to practise important classroom and communication skills in a fun, supportive small-group environment. Each group is facilitated by two therapists, allowing children to receive targeted support while developing independence and confidence alongside their peers.
Our School Readiness Groups focus on building skills including:

Social communication and confidence: Developing skills for interacting with peers, participating in group activities, taking turns and engaging in classroom-style tasks.

Early literacy skills: Supporting foundational reading and writing skills, including letter and sound knowledge, blending and segmenting sounds, and phonological awareness.

Language and comprehension skills: Building children’s ability to understand and follow instructions, learn classroom concepts and complete multi-step directions.
Our goal is to help children feel prepared, confident and ready to participate in the learning environment when they begin school.
Early Language Groups
At Leap Therapy Group, our Early Language Workshops are designed to support parents and carers with practical strategies to help their child develop early communication, speech and language skills.
Developed and delivered by our experienced Speech Pathologists, these workshops provide families with evidence-based information and easy-to-use techniques that can be incorporated into everyday routines, play and interactions at home.
Throughout the year, we offer workshops that support parents to understand and encourage their child’s communication development, including:

Early communication milestones: Understanding typical speech, language and play development and recognising when extra support may be helpful.

Play skills and interaction: Learning how to engage with your child and support their development through play-based interactions.

Early speech development: Strategies to encourage early sounds and support children as they begin developing their speech skills.

Language development strategies: Practical techniques to build your child’s understanding, vocabulary and ability to communicate.
Our goal is to empower families with the knowledge and confidence to support their child’s communication development during everyday moments.
In-Centre Groups
At Leap Therapy Group, we partner with early childhood education and care (ECEC) services to support children’s communication, language and social development within their everyday learning environment.
Our experienced Speech Pathologists collaborate with educators to identify the needs of each centre and develop tailored language and social communication groups that align with the children’s interests, developmental goals and the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
Through engaging, play-based group sessions, children are supported to develop important skills including:

Social communication skills: Building confidence with turn-taking, sharing, joining group activities, understanding emotions and developing positive peer relationships.

Language development: Expanding vocabulary, developing sentence structure, understanding new concepts and improving comprehension of instructions.

Participation and classroom skills: Supporting children to communicate their needs, engage in learning experiences and participate more confidently within the early childhood environment.
Our Speech Pathologists work alongside educators to ensure strategies can be embedded throughout the day, helping create communication-rich environments that benefit all children.
These groups also provide educators with practical strategies and knowledge to support children’s communication development beyond the group sessions, increasing confidence in promoting language and social skills across everyday routines, play and learning experiences.
